Los Angeles (April 20, 2006) - 89.3 KPCC announced today that L.A. news radio veteran Hettie Lynne Hurtes will become KPCC's new mid-day newscaster/announcer. Beginning Monday, May 1, Hurtes will anchor newscasts and station breaks weekdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Hurtes has more than 20 years' experience in the radio news business, including more than a decade as a reporter and news anchor at KFWB. Along the way she has also been: news/public affairs director at KRTH; morning news anchor at KTWV; a national correspondent for NBC Radio; a freelance reporter for CNN, and a national film critic at RKO Radio Network. She has also appeared as an actress in movies and television, among other things playing TV reporters in "Terminator" and "Throw Momma from the Train".
