Los Angeles, April 19 - Southern California Public Radio (SCPR) announced today that Fox Networks Group President and CEO Anthony J. Vinciquerra has been appointed to its Board of Trustees. Known for award-winning local and NPR news and information, 89.3 KPCC Radio is the flagship station of SCPR.
“I am pleased to welcome Tony to the board and I know his experience and stature in the broadcasting industry will be an asset to SCPR” said Gordon Crawford, Chairman of Southern California Public Radio’s board of trustees.
“I look forward to contributing to the effort being made by Southern California Public Radio to bring quality broadcast journalism to the radio dial in Los Angeles,” said Vinciquerra, of his appointment.
Tony Vinciquerra was named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fox Networks Group in 2002. He is responsible for the operations of both Fox Cable Networks and the FOX Television Network, overseeing a diverse portfolio of approximately 25 national, regional and multi-cultural cable and satellite programming services and related brand extensions including FX, Fox Sports Net (and its 21 owned or affiliated regional networks), the National Geographic Channel, Fox Movie Channel, Fox Sports World and Fox Sports en Español, SPEED Channel, Fox Sports Digital Nets, and FUEL, a new extreme sports network. He similarly supervises all operations of the FOX Television Network national programming service. He is also a past Chairman of the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE).
Mr. Vinciquerra joined Fox in 2001 as President of the FOX Television Network. Prior to joining FOX, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hearst-Argyle Television, since 1999. He first joined the Hearst Corporation’s broadcasting group as Group Executive in 1997 and became Executive Vice President of Hearst-Argyle when the company went public that year.
Mr. Vinciquerra was Exec. V. P. of CBS’s television station group from 1995 to 1997. From 1993 to 1995, he served as Vice President and General Manager of KYW-TV in Philadelphia, and from 1986-93, he served as General Sales Manager and, subsequently, Vice President and Station Manager of WBZ-TV in Boston.
Mr. Vinciquerra spent much of his early media career at The Hearst Corporation, at both Hearst’s Times Union newspaper in Albany, N.Y. and at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh.
Besides serving as past Chairman of the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE), he is also a director of the Boston-based Genesis Fund, the fundraising organization of the National Birth Defects Institute. A native of Albany, Mr. Vinciquerra graduated from the State University of New York. He resides in Beverly Hills with his wife Toni Knight.
